A mobile app to support passengers in navigating the Light Rail Transit system is set to launch in August, according to the operator of LRT Line 1.
The said app will be available on both iOS and Android. It will serve commuters with real-time train schedules using GPS trackers, as well as a crowd monitoring feature, Light Rail Manila Corp president and CEO Juan Alfonso said in a report on Thursday.
“It helps passengers really navigate through the LRT system. It gives them real-time schedules of when the trains are arriving… With the crowd function if one of riders is beside two stations he can choose between stations with the least amount of traffic,” Alfonso said.
The development of the LRT-1 Cavite extension will be noticeable from the streets in the coming weeks. Funding for the plan was secured despite the setback in the approval of Light Rail Manila’s proposed fare hike, he said.
