Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) on Wednesday said it has started extension for the EDSA Station of the LRT Line 1, promoting safety and convenience for passengers.
The passenger thoroughfare of the most bustling station will be stretched to more than 400 square meters from 70 sqm, LMRC president and CEO Juan Alfonso said in a statement.
“Queuing areas, and unpaid areas will be expanded to handle increased passenger flow,” Alfonso said.
“LRMC aims to improve the customer experience and continue to improve the quality of people’s transport commute,” he continued.
The development is intended to support the expected increase in ridership once the Cavite Extension is completed, he said.
EDSA Station attends over 52,000 passengers on weekdays and the queuing area is now “inadequate” for riders during peak hours, the LRMC said.
