The Laguna segment (which broke ground back in June 2017) of the soon-to-be-completed expressway is making much progress according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that “construction of the soon-to-be-completed expressway is already 31.47 % complete.”
This comes after Villar examined the ongoing construction at the Mamplasan Interchange near the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Binan, Laguna.
Last March 28, MPCALA broke ground in 27 km Cavite section of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) PPP project, with construction going on in full swing.
Once CALAX is operational, it will ease traffic on other major road networks in Cavite and Laguna like Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Sta. Rosa – Tagaytay Road.
Moreover, the four-lane expressway is also exacted to cut travel time between CAVITEX and SLEX by 45 minutes.
With a 2020 deadline hardly twenty months away, the project proponents have their work cut out for them in completing CALAX.
