MANILA- The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases approved the gradual reopening of additional industries in areas under General Community Quarantine and Modified General Community Quarantine, starting on Saturday, August 1.
This includes businesses like testing, tutorial and review centers, fitness and sports facilities, gyms, computer shops, personal grooming, and aesthetic services, pet grooming, drive-in cinemas.
But it will only operate up to 30% capacity, while the Department of Trade and Industry is set to release guidelines for the involved industries.
DTI secretary Ramon Lopez emphasized the need for gradual reopening,
“It has to start eh, yun ang ano diyan, ma-regain ang confidence ng taumbayan. Kasi ngayon pag sarado, even ang workers totally wala silang revenue.” [It has to start, that’s it, we need to regain the confidence of the people. Currently, if (establishments) are closed, workers have no revenue.], he said.
Computer shops are specifically included to support online learning setup for the upcoming school year.
Moreover, Lopez added that capacity may eventually increase up to 50% or more as business reopening is necessary for the people.
Besides these, other industries will also be operational under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), services including full body massage, tattoo and body piercing, entertainment, live events, libraries, archives, museums, cultural centers, tourist destinations, language, arts and driving schools shall resume.
All these in adherence to minimum health protocols.
