‘Cavite Moms’ advocates attachment parenting

Some households have both parents employed to sustain the family’s needs. Some households only have a solo parent balancing both work and taking care of the child. Now the question is, what do Cavite Moms advise other parents trying to give their child quality care?

The answer is attachment parenting.

It sure isn’t only about parents wearing their babies in slings, or toddlers sharing their beds with mom and dad. Attachment parenting is a parenting technique that features a powerful connection between parents and children, with parents being deeply perceptive to their child’s needs.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breastfeeding is the natural way of giving young infants the nutrients they need for good growth and development.

“Colostrum, the yellowish, sticky breast milk produced at the end of pregnancy, is recommended by WHO as the perfect food for the newborn, and feeding should be initiated within the first hour after birth,” explains WHO website.

Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond.

Cavite Moms, also known as CavMoms, advocates the principles of nurturing the bond between parents and children through this unique approach. CavMoms is a community for all mothers in Cavite, and it supports attachment parenting with subsections for breastfeeding, babywearing, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, homeschooling and more.

Given the various circumstances that affect today’s approach to parenthood, parent support groups like CavMoms are a great way to help other parents for practical and emotional support. As a support group, they organize activities like breastfeeding class, parenthood counseling, and babywearing workshop for free.
