Anti-kidnapping operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) shot three speculated members of a ill-famed kidnap-for-ransom group in a raid on the house of an ex-policeman in Indang, Cavite.
Col. Jonnel Estomo, director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said the subject of the operation was former Police Officer 3 Magdaleno Pacia, leader of the Pacia KFR Group operating in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
But Pacia was not present in the raid carried out at around 3 a.m. in Barangay Kayquit 1 in Indang town.
Three of Pacia’s men died in a shootout, with one of them named only as Vince, Pacia’s reported henchman. The other fatalities remained anonymous.
Caught in the operations were an M16 rifle, a Beretta pistol, a .45 pistol and a vehicle.
Estomo said Pacia has been in cahoots with Chinese kidnapping groups in preying on Chinese nationals and other affluent businessmen. (Aaron Recuenco)
