This year, the local government of General Trias City in Cavite marks their 5th Valenciana Festival alongside the celebration of the 2nd Cityhood on Decemeber 13. The theme for this year is Gentriseno: “Magkakaagapay sa Pagusad at Pag-unlad” (Partners in Progress).
Under the leadership of City Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer, together with the Tourism Officer Michelle Pozas and Local Investment and Promotion Head Romel Olimpo, the local government laid out the programs for the one-week celebration in lieu of the said events.
On December 13, 2017, a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of General Mariano Trias shall be observed after the 8-AM Holy Mass at the St. Francis of Assisi church in Brgy. Bagumabayan. This is to be led by the City Mayor Ferrer and Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis “Jon-Jon” Ferrer IV. Next, the city’s 33 barangay captains will exhibit their individual entries at the 5th Valenciana Festival at the City Esplanade, where the Valenciana dish will be assessed by food experts.
Later in the evening, the 15-foot Christmas tree will officially be lighted up by the local officials while the lantern-making contest will also commence at the City Plaza.
Other events shall also take place before the official date of the festival day such as Binibining General Trias pageant, a job fair, free concert with Aegis and Investors Day.
