Tagaytay City and Mendez-Nuñez municipality, both in Cavite province’s 7th District, have been declared drug-cleared.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) confirmed this today based on a report that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Region IV-A released recently.
It was the first time that the PDEA had declared a city and municipality in the province as “drug-cleared” since President Duterte assumed office on July 1, 2016.
PDEA is the lead agency that acts against illegal drugs and monitors the drug situation in the cities and municipalities in every region.
The agency is working side-by-side with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other concerned authorities in the drive against the prohibited drugs.
The PDEA was tasked by the national government to conduct surveillance and scrutiny of cities and municipalities nationwide and submit reports and recommendations on the drug situation in the areas.
Senior Superintendent William M. Segun, Cavite PPO director, said the police drives against illegal drugs would be implemented sternly year-round. (Anthony Giron)
