In a few years, you can now hop on a train in Bacoor , Cavite and hop off at Monumento in Caloocan. The Light Rail Manila Corporation, a consortium of the Ayala Corporation and Metro Pacific Light Rail Corporation, aims to start construction of the 11.7-kilometer LRT-1 extension to Cavite by next year, once right-of-way (ROW) issues are settled. The P65-billion project was awarded to the consortium in 2014 and will extend the current LRT-1 line from Baclaran to Niog in Bacoor.
10 new stations will be added to the existing line:
- MIA Road
- Asia World
- Ninoy Aquino
- Manuyo Uno
- Las Piñas
The project is expected to benefit residents living in Paranaque, Las Piñas, Bacoor, and nearby towns. A separate project, LRT-6, is currently under procurement and will provide rail access from Niog to Governor’s Drive in Dasmariñas.
