President Rodrigo Duterte shall rehearse on Sunday in Malacañang for his 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA) set on Monday, July 23.
Duterte’s practice will involve going over a draft of his speech with the opportunity of using a teleprompter. Previously, the president had been assisted by Presidential Communications Operations Office officials, like Secretary Martin Andanar.
This year, the written speech will mostly be bearing Duterte’s thoughts and personal messages to Congress and the Filipino public. He has vowed to deliver his entire speech and to have it read within 35 minutes.
In 2017, the president practiced for his SONA in Davao City. During his SONA rehearsal last year, he wanted his written address to be spoken within the 40-50 minutes mark. However, despite the ideal time allotted for his speech, his actual SONA extended to two hours because of his impromptu remarks.
