According to Department of Health- Calabarzon, a five-hectare drug rehabilitation facility will be built in Barangay Osorio, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The facility takes on a holistic approach for the patient’s wellbeing that will include amenities and facilities like medical service building, activity center, training center, transition aftercare building, administrative building, recreational area, and a prayer hall.
“This facility once operational, will improve the patient’s arena of motion because of a more conducive environment, spacious facility with sceneries and recreational amenities to enhance and provide them activity and amusement and the best place to regain their normal lives in a safe and healthy way,” said Regional Director Eduardo Janairo.
The said project is made feasible with the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) together with the provincial government of Cavite.
“The Provincial Government of Cavite donated a five-hectare land where the proposed 500-bed rehabilitation facility will be constructed. A 1.85 billion yen or around P878- million was given to the Philippine government from Japan for the CARE (Consolidated Rehabilitation of Illegal Drug Users) Project expected to be completed by 2020,” the DOH- Calabarzon stated.
The CARE Project, Janairo explained, aims to “enhance the facilities and policies of treatment protocol for drug users by establishing and upgrading facilities and reforming policies for treatment preventions.”
Data from the Philippine National Police-Calabarzon recorded a total of 144,726 drug surrenderees in the region, from July 1, 2016, to June 20, 2017.
