The Department of Tourism (DOTr) conducted a dry-run of ferry boat travel from Cavite Gateway Terminal in Tanza, Cavite to Manila yesterday. This initiative was led by DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade in efforts to take a look at other transportation options to the metro.
In a Facebook post update of DOTr Philippines, DOTr was seen inspecting the possible route of the sea transportation.
“Kung gusto ninyong maglakbay mula Metro Manila hanggang Cavite, madalas ginagamit natin ay kalsada. Ang ginagawa natin ngayon, nag-e-explore ng ibang pamamaraan upang makapagbigay ng ibang transportation options sa ating mga kababayan, ” said Tugade.
“‘Di ba ang gusto ng pangulo ay comfortable life for all? Ito ginagawa natin para mabigay yan sa mga Pilipino. Hindi lang isang solusyon ang tinitingnan natin. Basket of solutions dapat. Lahat ng solusyong iyan ay pagbubukludin natin,” he added.
By means of a ferry service that roughly runs at 20 knots per hour, Caviteños can transport to SM MOA in more or less 50 minutes. Meanwhile, travel time to Sangley Airport will be cut down to 15 minutes.
Other officers who participated in the said inspection were DOTr Usec for Finance Garry De Guzman, OIC Usec for Road Transport Mark De Leon, Undersecretary for Administrative Service Ochie Tuazon, Asec for Maritime Andoy Perez, PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino, and PPA General Manager Jay Santiago.
