Bacoor publishes ‘Bakood’ Festival activities in September

The city’s annual celebration in honor of its patron saint, St Michael The Archangel, will be graced by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as a special guest and highlighted by various church activities and a ‘Kapamilya’ caravan, City Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla said on Tuesday.

Revilla, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency, said the annual celebration aims “to strengthen camaraderie and instill among the Bacoor constituents a sense of pride and appreciation for their rich cultural heritage, and to attract visitors and investors”.

She said the main event will be on the 28th while the 347th founding anniversary of Bacoor is on the 29th.

This year’s ‘Bakood Festival’ will have its usual dose of service-oriented and fun-filled events, “marked with trade and jobs fairs” to promote the city’s tourism and trade and industry sectors.

The September festivities will officially start on the 10th until the 14th, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the releasing of scholarship stubs for all public high school (Bacoor National High School) and public senior HS in Districts 1 & 2.

Private High School, Private Senior High School, PWG, and Valedictorians will hold its releasing of stubs at the Strike Gymnasium at 1 p.m. on Sept. 23.

Other activities include a mass baptism at 9 a.m. on Sept 19 and 21 in IFI Bacoor and Molino, respectively; a Jobs Fair starting 9 a.m. of Sept 21, at the Strike Gymnasium; and Poster Making and Essay Writing contests on Sept. 21 at SM Molino and Sept.24 at Main Square Molino, both at 1 p.m.

As it continues to highlight the role the city played in the pages of history, a contest on the ‘golden’ knowledge of the city’s history will be held at the Revilla Hall of the Bacoor Government Center at 8 a.m. of Sept. 25.

It will be an early start on Sept 28, with the drum and lyre and civic parade along Gen. Evangelista Street at 8 a.m., followed by the Mobile Legends tournament at the SM Molino/Vista Mall at 10 a.m., Drum and Lyre Competition at the Strike Gymnasium at 12 noon and the Inter-school Tahong Cook-Off at the University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta-Molino from 1 to 5 p.m.

On Sept. 29, TV Patrol Caravan takes place at the Plaza de Padre Mariano A. Gomez in the city’s Tabing Dagat village at 8 a.m. The day ends with an Aegis Concert at 8 p.m.

The food expo will be from Sept. 28 to 29 at the Main Square – Molino while the trade fair will run from Sept. 24 to 30, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at SM Molino, and another one on Sept. 25-Oct 2, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at SM City Bacoor. (Gladys Pino)
