Prior involvement in a vehicular accident at Daang Hari corner Aguinaldo Highway, a pickup truck was discovered to be carrying a number of 72 slaughtered dogs on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
Reports say that the driver of the said pick up truck escaped after it collided with an SUV. Police lately arrived and found the dead bodies of dogs which were later turned over for proper disposal.
“It seemed the animals had just been slaughtered last night since the meat still looked fresh,” reportedly stated Imus City Police Supt. Norman Rañon.
According to another report, cops identified the driver as Perry Baybay based on a cellphone recovered inside the vehicle. Also discovered inside the truck was a license plate different from the one attached to it.
Authorities have yet to determine further details regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi, through his Facebook page, has released a statement condemning the illegal dog meat trade. “We will ensure that this case will be punishable by law and measures will be carried out to properly address this matter,” stated him.
